Keeping Christmas

Keeping Christmas

Dear Readers, thanks for sharing your Christmas memories. It makes me happy to know that from Dubai to England to Ten Sleep, Wyoming, there IS room for the Savior! I hope you’ll take the time to read a few of these stories, sure to give you an extra measure of the Christmas Spirit. And I hope you’ll join the conversation, and in return, I will send you a free download of the original audio recording of “Do You Have Room.”

I lost my wife after 39 years of a wonderful marriage. The first Christmas was very difficult. Your song and video give hope that this Christmas will be better. It’s a wonderful reminder of what is important not only at Christmas but every day of the year.
Thanks for your talent.

My favorite part of Christmas is always after the hustle and bustle is done.… it is Christmas Eve and the stores are finally closed. If I haven’t “done it”, whatever it may be, by this point it is too late. It is quiet. It is dark. And Christmas falls. Some years, it hits me as the candle fire is being passed down the pews from person to person. Other years, it hits me as the kids are finally in bed. We spend so much time “getting ready” for Christmas. But Christmas comes… and Chrismas came… as a merciful gift from God. A gift that keeps on giving. It is a quiet gift… a personal gift… but a gift that must be shared again and again. God gave his son.… ultimately to die… Christmas is the beginning of the end. May we experience the peace and hope of Christmas every day. God bless you, Shawna!

I am making room in my life for Jesus by remembering that I am nothing without him.

I am a 17 year old girl from a little town in Germany:) me and my band are going to play songs in the christmaschurch. last year we performed the song “Breath of heaven” by Amy Grant and we got so many positiv feedback, so that we decided to play a more beautiful song…and i found yours! “Do you have room” is such a wonderful song, that i loved from the first moment (especially the piano, because i also play the piano and i really love it ) you are a great writer and i am so happy that i found this song and i would be happier if I/we would get the notes for free. naturally, my band and I wouldn‘t give the notes away.
We would be verry happy to make people with playing this song happy and we are also playing because God gave everyone of us a special talent and we want to use this to celebrate and worship God and to make people happy!
I am looking forward getting news of you
be blessed and go on with your wonderful hearttouching writing
    Love, Mareike

This music is gorgeous! I would love to have a solo copy of the sheet music!
Whenever I think of the true meaning of the Christmas season I always think of the Christmas after the passing of my mother. It was our first Christmas with out her and things were going all wrong. My mom did everything for our family especially at Christmas time! Because she was gone we were left to do the things she always selflessly and lovingly did for us! But because of our desperate longing for her to be with us and maybe even our denial that she wasn’t there we had left all the things of the season undone! I was sixteen at the time and I remember going to bed Christmas Eve feeling really weird that for the first time we didn’t have a Christmas tree. That night my brother stayed up all night and made a Christmas tree out of Christmas lights! When I woke up Christmas morning, I had received one of the best gifts of love. No sweater or ipod could make me feel so loved than I did that day! My brother truly was the Lord’s hands in my life that day!

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a while. Christmas or other wise.

I am making Jesus a huge part in my life by walking every day as if it was my last day. Last year in january I was diagnosed with cancer, but God saw me through it. He is my strength and shelter every day and every day i walk with him.

He always has room in my life through my words and actions, and through my participation in Campus for Christ at my school. This song is so inspiring and amazing!

    God bless

I found your song on YouTube tonight as I was looking for song ideas to sing in my Church this Christmas. Every year, in November, the women in my Church host an evening of outreach for women in our community. We would love to be able to sing “Do You Have Room”, since it absolutely speaks to the heart and purpose of our outreach event. Could you send me a copy of the sheet music? I’d love to have the SATB copy as we will be singing it in 3 parts.

Blessings to you as you continue to minister through your gift of music and your passion and love for the Lord.

  10. Aniline

Hope you are doing good. I am a Christian living in Dubai. I saw the video of your song Do You Have Room? and was touched by the message of the song. We have a Christmas Eve Service on the 24th of Dec and I want to sing it as a special number.

Unfortunately, I tried several times to pay using my card but it’s not accepted. I have to practice so I can inform our Pastor that I’m going to sing for that night. Can you give it as a gift to me? I don’t have any song in mind to sing other than this, coz for me it’s one of the most beautiful Christmas song I’ve heard.

    With love and prayers,

  11. Janice

My favorite memory of Christmas happened the year we were married. We were poor students, living in a small basement apartment in a wealthy neighborhood. We decided we would do a sub-for-Santa for a needy family in a low-income part of town. Our neighbors rallied and really answered the call with many nice donations for the family. When we delivered the presents to the family in need, they were astonished at the amount of gifts given. They in turn asked us if it would be all right for them to share those presents with two other needy families in their neighborhood, which they did. The spirit of giving was truly in abundance that Christmas.

  12. Becky

I am so glad to have found this song. I love the melody and the message of it as well. Thank you so much. You inspired me and I can’t wait to share it with others. I would love a copy.

  13. Jessica

Christmas is the one time of year that I love. I enjoy my family traditions, and helping others. My favorite Christmas memory is reading the Chrismas story by candlelight. I remember one year, when I was really young, my Grandpa was reading the story to my entire family, and there was a knock on the door — and, it was Santa. For a little girl, it was a great memory to see Santa, and to hear Poppa read the Christmas story.

I would love the sheet music for “Do you have room?” I am the chorister for my ward, and I would love to share this song with my congregation.

  14. Laree Trent

I love this song. I lost my dad in June of 2007 and Christmas was his favorite holiday. He always had fun going shopping with his girls. And of course he would try his hardest to get us to tell him what mom got him. This September my son received the priesthood, his first temple trip was to be baptized for his grandpa. I love Christ and am so grateful for his atonement. This Christmas I am trying to focus more on the magic of Christ in my life then the magic of Christmas in my life and this song will help me do just that.

  15. JoAnn Barnson

As a family we try to make an extra effort to serve others, to take the focus off of what we want and see what we can give.

  16. Janice Suggs

Favorite Christmas remembrance — Our family was living in England where my husband was serving with the US Air Force. We were on a very small base that was housed on a large sheep farm. We went to church service on Christmas Eve for a candlelight service. As we walked up to the small chapel, there were sheep laying down and bales of hay at the entrance. The music flowing from within was “Silent Night, Holy Night all is calm, all is bright.….it was as if there were angels voices all around and we were walking into the dimly lit manger. I shall never forget the joy that flooded over me at the thought of my Savior’s entrance to this world.
I would like to request the sheet music. Thank you so much for this beautiful song which I posted to
my FB sight. I pray for all who hear the music that their hearts will be blessed as mine was.

  17. Krista

What a touching song you wrote. I was looking for a song to sing during our Christmas Eve service this year– and God sent me to your site. It’s amazing what God can do for us. To think I was worried about finding a song– nearly gave up until I gave my worries to Him. He provides all that we need.

During Christmas time, our home (with its nativity scene), Jesse Tree, and daily family time talking– I am constantly reminded of just how much love God has for all of us…that He sent His son to save us.

  18. Laurene Munger

My husband and I serve as Interims with Village Missions.…my favorite memory of Christmas…a very special Christmas Eve Candlelight service a couple years ago in a very rural church that no longer holds regular Sunday service. We used scripture interspersed with Christmas songs to honor and worship the ‘Babe’ in the Manger, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Please send sheet music and thank you for the wonderful song! May our Lord and Savior bless you as you continue to share the Good News thru your music!

  19. Kay

Dear Shawna, my favorite Christmas memories I have is when my two sons would get up at 4:00 in the morning and run to our bedroom to get their dad and I up to unwrap presents. I taught our boys that it was alright to get presents for Christmas but, it isn’t the reason we celebrate Christmas. Chirstmas is not the same around our house anymore. We lost my oldest son B, J in 2005, He had cystic fibrosis and he got very sick. All we have is my other son Justin, He has been married two years to a wonderful Christian youn lady. B. j is still with us at Christmas, we put a special ornament on the tree each year that says, you may miss me but, I’m spending Christmas this year with Jesus.

I love the song you sent me Do you have room for Jesus. I am going to use the song in my Chirstmas Drama at Church. I would like the words to the song, and how can I get the video?

    Thank You, Kay Parker

  20. Shauna

beautiful song — beautiful words — beautiful message. Thank you.
I have several favorite memories of Christmas — one special one was when I served a mission to Italy. One of our district elders arranged with a music store to put a piano outside, and our district sang on the piazza for a couple hours. A vendor was roasting chestnuts on top of a big barrel not too far away. The evening air was crisp and cool. Shoppers were hurrying here and there — yet the music had time to penetrate their hearts and put a smile on their faces.

  21. Amy

Shawna~This song is so beautiful! I have 3 daughters with amazing voices, and would love for one of them to sing this at our children’s program Sunday night…Our church has a van ministry & most of our kids and youth live with parents who do not attend church…This Sunday evening, they are putting on a play & their parents will attend…This is the perfect song to possibly reach someone’s heart while they are there…We don’t get them to come often, some not at all…This would be the perfect time to sing this song…
My favorite Christmas memories–not just one Christmas, but every Christmas…my favorite part is attending church on Christmas Eve for a candlelight service…It’s not Christmas until we light candles and softly sing ‘Silent Night’…I’ve gone every year…It just wouldn’t be Christmas w/o it…
If you so see fit…could you send the sheet music & possible an accompianment CD for one of my daughters to practice with? I just know someone will be touched by the Holy Spirit…I’m praying for it, anyway…God Bless You!!!

I think my favorite Christmas memory was when as a young family we were moving back to Idaho from Alaska. We had a tough time of it and traveling was slow with 4 kids in a VW Rabbit pulling a trailer containing all of our earthly possessions. We had left Alaska with every intention of being home with our families for Christmas, but with unforseen circumstances, mostly flat tires on our trailer, that was not to be. Christmas Eve found us with yet another flat tire only about half way to our destination. Fortunatly we were close to a farm house where we were able to ask for use of a phone. The owner of the farm assured us that the only tire store was closed for the Holiday but also that he was a friend of the owner of the store so while he and my husband met the very kind gentleman at his store the farmers wife entertained my children and I sith stories while she was making cabbage rolls for her families celebration the next day. It wasn’t long before our husband were back with the trailer in tow with two new tires on the trailer and one on the spare also. We were on our way again with a case of oranges for our babies and the Spirit of Christmas in our hearts!

I love this song. I just barely heard it a few minutes ago and it gives inspiration to my soul. I remember when I was younger I would love going out into the living room on Christmas morning where the Christmas tree and all the gifts were laid out. My dad would ring a bell when my brothers and sisters and I were aloud to go out there. I love this memory and how it can remind me of the Christ child and of how the shepherds and wisemen went to see him with the gifts for him when they saw the bright star above in the night sky.

My absolute favorite Christmas memory is being with my family and cousins on my mom’s side. Music is always the ‘big’ event. Once many of the cousins were teenagers, it was more difficult to do planned performances from each family. But there HAD to be music! One Christmas Eve, after enacting Luke 2, everyone grabbed any kind of instrument they could find; guitar, spoons, toy drum, a wooden stick used on a pot lid, an almost empty oatmeal container — and we had the greatest improv Christmas music session ever! We had so much fun using our voices (many are quite talented) and other musical talents to simply create while singing Christmas praises to our Savior. I’ve rarely felt such a strong extended family bond or felt so poignantly the Savior as the center of Christmas worship. That night, there was room.

  25. Julie

I loved your song “Do You Have Room?” This has been one of the hardest years of my life, and I have been telling myself that if I can just get through Christmas and start a new year, maybe everything will be better. This song reminded me that Christmas is much more then traditions, gifts, and even family. It is the celebration of the Savior. Anything else just takes our focus off of Him. I truly want to “have room” for Him this year. I would love to have the sheet music to this song. Thank you!

  26. betty shaw

hello first of all i want to say this song has truely been a blessing to me! we are the youth leaders of our little country church and are doing our first christmas play .I was looken for a perfect song for a manger scene part that would really reach out to peoples hearts ! when i came across this song do you have room it is perfect it touched my heart and even got me to thinken about my own walk with god.I would love to have a copy with you singing it to play on cd for our manger scene part .you do such a awsome job i cant belive you dont have this song on cds in the stores! I beleave your father would be so proud to know you have let your music reach out to others . on my email address that is a number one after the letters th . Thanks and may God Bless you for your shareing.

(I feel a little silly for admitting this, even somewhat anonymously, but I cried when I listened to your beautiful song, and I cried when I read this story—my Rebecca is three this year, and I can’t imagine how scary this would have been.)

All my Christmas memories seem to be funny ones, so I’ll borrow one from my husband: his favorite Christmas memories are of reading the Christmas story from the Bible by candlelight, with a spinning angel candle holder with chimes.

My children are little and get very caught up in the what-am-I-getting? aspect of Christmas. We try not to emphasize that too much, but it can be really hard to convince a three-year-old that even though we see Santa on every street corner, the holiday isn’t about him. I’d love the sheet music of “Do You Have Room?” as another way to teach them this lesson–if I can make it through without crying.

    Thank you for sharing!

  28. Kimberly

I am a lay speaker and am delivering the late Christmas Eve message this year for my first time. I found your song on you tube. It fits perfectly with our program and I was very excited to see that I could get the accompaniment track and sheet music for it. Thank you so much for your contribution to the success of our program. Have a very Merry Christmas.

  29. Lara

What a beautiful song I stumbled on and an even more touching story of your Christmas spent with your daughter in the hospital. Thank you for sharing.

My favorite memory, was the day the Lord provided.…He continues all the time to surprise us. But this happened at Christmas.

1 week before Christmas my family was gathered in the living room and we were reading through our Advent devotions, reading about how God is our Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Provides) and I was watching my kids(4) as we read, praying that they would understand that this Christmas would not be full of worldly gifts because we couldn’t even afford 1 for them. As we were reading, singing and praying, our dog started to bark as if someone was at the door, but the doorbell didn’t ring. We went to the door to see why she was barking and when my husband opened the door, he saw 4 gigantic boxes on our porch filled with food and presents for our children. THE LORD PROVIDES. My favorite gift inside was a beautiful glass ornament with a lovely letter. We still have that ornament to remind us every year of God’s unending faithfulness and love for us.

I would love a copy of your beautiful sound recording, so that I can play it for my family this year and every year to come.

    God Bless

In August of 2007, my 11 year old and I came home from school and found that my husband had passed away in his recliner. From that moment on I wondered how people without “Faith” get through things like that. If it wasn’t for the Faith that I have I probably would my fallen completely apart. As it was I sang “Amazing Grace” at his Celebration of Life Service much to the doubting of my Pastor.

  31. Love

my favorite Christmas memory was when my whole family and all my friends came and visited me when i was in the hospital. three weeks before i got into a big motorcycle accident and had to be taken to intensive care and had to get multiple of surgeries done.when my family and friends came, they brought me all kids of presents, cookies, sang for me, and put up a christmas tree in my room.i realized then how blessed i was for having such loving and caring people in my life that never left me and how blessed i am that i worship the living God who would never leave me even if He put me through trials i know that it was for a reason.this Christmas, my church is having a big Christmas concert and i would love to sing this song and also share my testimony so i would love it if you gave me the original recording.thank-you and God bless you!

    Hello Shawna,

I am making room for the Savior in my life by sharing His love with other people, whether they are lovable or not. This reminds me how God has loved me; he loved me when I was still a sinner, so that I also have to extend that love with others. I forgive, through the grace of God, those people who have wronged me, because by doing so, I am fulfilling His will for me.

  33. Joyce York

One way that i make room for the savior in my life is to hold scripture reading each night with my children. There is truly and incredible feeling that comes when you read the words of Jesus Christ and learning about his example. I would really like a copy of the sheet music and use it as part of the Christmas program with the family to remind us more and more the importance of Christmas and the true meaning of it. Thanks Joyce York

  34. Signe

Thank you for the call to action! Taking inventory on how I will make room for my Savior — Resting in Jesus and serving others through prayer and action; Listening to hear His prompting and moving forward in faith to share His love and good news; Fixing my eyes on Jesus. Thank you for spurring us on with your music. I would love to have a copy of your sheet music to add to our Christmas repetoire. Blessings.

  35. Tammy

I found your song “Do You Have Room” on Face Book today. My daughter Jess (30) is @ Emory University Hospital, Atlanta Ga awaiting a heart transplant. I shared your music video with her. We were so blessed by your song. She is actually working on lyrics that can only be described as Heaven Sent. Thanks for sharing your faith through songs and your testimony.

I love seeing life through my 2-year old, Penelope’s eyes and this Christmas is no different. She is really getting into the gift-giving of the season. We set up the tree and instantly she seemed to know that “presents” are supposed to go underneath. So she proceeds to play “presents” with me. She finds one of her dad’s shoes and eagerly hands it to me and says “Momma, I got you a present!” Her face lights up as I thank her and tell her that “I love it!” and why. And then I love that she then tells me “you’re welcome” with a sense of “I knew it was the perfect gift for you”. I then give her a “present” and she places her sweet little hands on either side of her face and exclaims “Oh I love it! It’s so cute!” with a big smile and then hugs me each time it’s my turn to present a “gift”, it never gets old. Her innocence reminds me that it’s not necessarily what the gifts we give ARE but that we give them with LOVE, that we give of ourselves, generously. And that we strive to have gratitude for what we are given. I feel if I can hold onto this new “Christmas Memory” it will be easier to “make room” for my Savior! Thank you for your beautiful & thought-provoking song, I would love to receive a copy of the sheet music. Merry Christmas!

  37. Bella

Christmas has always been a special time of year for me. I am 77 and still cry when I hear the beloved songs and hymns. This one touched my heart. I walked through the store the other day and it was loaded more than ever with toys and material things but the store was not allowed to say Merry Christmas. It broke my heart that we have come to this. I am leaving a story that I love. I also collect them. I would love the words to this song. God bless you as you use your beautiful voice to praise our Savior and our Heavenly Father.

  38. Renos

We have a group of teenage ballet dancers at our church. They will dance to your wonderful song at our Christmas Eve Crib Service. The song is beautiful and I am sure will touch the hearts of those who hear it. With every blessing.

  39. Ruth Endacott

We lead the music ministry at a small church in an English village. Christmas is an important time for us to reach out to the community and show God’s love in action. We also get a lot of ‘non-church goers’ through the doors at Christmas (fantastic!) and so like to use a range of music. I’m sure that ‘Do you have room?’ will touch lives this Christmas.
Please can you send through piano music.

  40. Fran

Beautiful music! I love the message! I pray that I teach my children the true meaning of Christmas; it is hard to teach the little ones that sometimes. I would love a copy of the sheet music

  41. Carolyn Myers

I was so excited to see your song posted on the Church of God, Anderson, In, facebook site. Our national women’s ministry theme for Christ Birthday Observance is “Making Room,” with Luke 2:7 as the theme verse. This song goes perfectly with it and I plan to share with our music minister here in Shreveport, La, to see if she will use it during our Christ Birthday Observance. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord and sharing this song with us. May God bless your ministry over and over. Carolyn

  42. Maria

I am interested in doing this at our christmas eve service. I will share with you a christmas memory of how we keep the saviour first in our hearts. I can’t stand the over comercialism of Christmas. We decorate simply. We go to church for our Christmas eve service and when we return ever since our kids(7 of them) were little (the oldest is 22 and recently married, the youngest is 5) we would come home and get into our pjs. We would open to Matthew and Luke and each kid(if they could read) would take turns reading about the story of mary, joseph and our prescious saviour’s entrance into this world. We then say a prayer and go to bed. We do not do santa and any gifts given or received are in honor of our Christ’s birth the greatest gift. Christmas morning we get up and exchnage gifts and sing happy birthday to Jesus. In our Edmondson tradition we eat choclate cake with peanut butter icing! Thank you for sharing your gift and this song, and thank you for allowing me to sharing with our church. Bless you & Merr CHRISTMAS! ~Maria

  43. Carolyn

I love your music. This is my first time hearing it. One of my favorite Christmas memories was when I was a young girl. On Christmas Day my grandfather hitched his team of horses to the hay wagon. My family and cousins were given the sleigh bells his father had brought from Sweden when he came to be with the saints in Utah to jingle while we sang Christmas carols. It was magical. The bells were so loud it would nearly drown out our singing but, oh what fun.

  44. Martha

Your music is beautiful. Thank you!!

  45. Theresa

Thank you for your beautiful song it touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Simply because I know how much the Lord has done in my life. I am so full of graditude and am in such awe of my Savior I know I am a blessed woman.. But my tears were also for all those who don’t know Him and can’t find the time to give to Him. It makes me so sad, if they only knew how much their lives could change with Him in it they might find the time. I have shared it with my Facebook friends and hope that it will make a differecne in someones life in Jesus name.
Thank you again for sharing your gift and blessing many who will take the time. God Bless You
May I have both sheet and track, I would like to share it with my church.

This past year my husband has been without a job since March, about 3 weeks ago he excepted a position for a job that is out of town. I have seen God’s hand move in our lives so much in the past few months but especially in the last few weeks as we live apart until the house sells. Things like coming home from work to find the well pump has quit and I have no water, but God provided and before the night was over the pump had been fixed. It bothers my husband that we are living apart but he knows that God is working out all the details and we can rest in His care. I’ve been asked to sing for Christmas and was looking for something on utube when I came across your song and couldn’t get it out of my head. “Do You Have Room” is wonderful and I love the way it ask the question of everyone.

Love this song. Was looking for a special for Christmas Eve service, and think Ive found it. So I ordered the accompaniment track and would like the sheet music as well.
My favorite Christmas memory was last year, when my family couldnt get together for the first time as we always had, because we were in a hospital instead for my sister’s emergency liver lobectomy when serious and fast-moving cancer was found. My whole church and alot of others were praying for a miracle, and we got it. After a second surgery last January to remove lymph nodes, chemotherapy and two subsequent scans, she is clear so far. We continue to pray for her continued health and God’s protection over our family.
Sheet music, please, and thank you for this special song.

I have fond memories of sewing some pajamas for my niece and her doll one Christmas when she was sick with cancer. I didn’t have any way to make it better, but thought that maybe I could make her more comfortable, and have some fun with some matching doll pajamas. In the coming years, I would do this for my own children, and also try to help other friends who were going through hard times. There was one Christmas that one of my friends was in tough financial circumstances. I sewed some pajamas for her daughter and a doll dress and quilt for her doll. It felt so good to do something for her that would make her little girl’s Christmas better. I was so glad that I was able to take some of my time and share it with others. Another year, some friends were adopting a family, and had purchased a doll. I made a doll sized quilt that they tucked in the doll box with the doll. I have been blessed to share of my time over the years to make Christmas a little better for others. Truly it is better to give than to receive.

My heart is full! I’ve been writing the program for our church service the last couple of months and I’ve changed it a couple of times. It never came together for me. Then the other day, I sat down and started writing different thoughts that came to mind as well as read a few posts about Christ. My thoughts turned to the beautiful message you sang about in your song! Have our hearts become too small for HIM? Is there room in our hearts to receive the true spirit of christmas, which is love, joy, peace, giving and forgiving~~Peace , good will toward men”?
I pray we may all have room ~~Let him in!

Our family does several family traditions keeping Jesus in our Christmas. Every year I look for
a few fresh ideas to add to keep it alive for us and our kids as they grow. We have family devotions
dedicated to the Christmas story in the month of December we sing and play piano together.
We have a Jesus Birthday cake with special candles that are red to represent the blood he
shed for us. We also volunteer our time and money to certain charities that share the love
of Jesus. your song is so beautiful I want piano music to play it for friends and family.

    Thank you

I make room for Christ by trying to dedicate 10% of my time each day to Christ, just as I dedicate !0% of my money. 2.4 hours may sound like a lot of time to spend studying my scriptures or listening to talks each day, but it makes a serious impact on how I see others, and how I treat the,. I have also hung up four signs in my room, They Say: Jesus would share, Jesus would heal, Jesus would teach and preach, and Jesus would always help. These remind me to be Christlike towards anyone who asks me for anything, It also helps me look for situations where I can do what Jesus would have done. Merry Christmas. Thank you for writing this beautiful song.

    Dear Shawna,

Your song is deeply touching and healing. Yes, I do have room for the Savior, I can never completely repay him for all he has done for me and does for me daily. I am a singer and desire to share my talent more often than I have been lately. I’ve had various challenges for a few years, but am finally improving this past year, which I am sincerely grateful for. My dear husband has been faithfully supportive through it all. He just this past week has been printing out the following words & leaving them around the house for me: Every day, sing a new song (that you’ve never sung before) about a wonderful reality too heavenly to be true (that you’ve never sung before). Today your song “Do You Have Room” will be the new song that I will sing. Thank you! Starr-Jennie

Shawna, this is the most pure and heart touching song and video I have heard/seen in years. Thank you so much, for reminding us what Christmas is all about.

My mom raised nine kids nearly single-handedly in tough times. At one point, she thought Christmas was getting out of hand. She limited the amount we could spend on each other to $2.00, which even in the 70’s was not much. This limit, helped us to work together and really think about each other and who we were as people. There were lots of laughs, much joy and it is the best Christmas I can remember. She was all about reminding us that it was not about stuff, but love.

Your song and video also do that for me, they remind me about God’s love and the wonder of HIS birth. Thank you so much.

I would love a copy of the sheet music if you will consider it.

    May God Bless.

This year, we have simplified our lives for Christmas. Everything we are doing is focusing on Him instead of us. I started blogging two years ago to share more of the influence of the Savior in my own life. I have discovered that the more I share, the more like Him I want to become. It is as if in sharing, I find the person that I most want to be. We love to share stories about kindness and good works during this season. It is something that we enjoy doing as a family. I would love to receive sheet music to this song. I have a daughter that would love to sing it for Christmas. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with the rest of us.

I grew up not knowing anything about Jesus and to me, Christianity was a white man’s religion. When I was a teenager, I found a bible in my brother’s home and read it. I felt something. I became a Catholic like my brother years later. Meanwhile, my sister had joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I didn’t know anything about her church except that it was good for her.

Through a series of events, my husband and I joined her church. The first Christmas we spent as members of the church was most memorable. We spent it with the missionaries whom we had come to love deeply. In our little city then, there were no other members so it was very intimate and special.

The first elder in our city, who had been with us for nine months and who had taught us the discussions through much fasting and prayer was leaving us and everyone was very emotional. We read the Christmas story from Luke and exchanged very simple gifts but the love and gratitude we felt that night was overflowing.

It’s been seventeen years now since that night and we now have three teenage boys in our family. We named them after the first three elders who taught us the gospel. Do we have room for Jesus? Jesus is the most important person in our home, our family and our lives. Everything we do, every decision we make, is centered around him.

He has made all the difference! How can we ever do enough to thank him? What can we give? As per Elder Neal A. Maxwell, we give him our will and this we will do until we draw our last breath … and fall at his feet.

This was a very thoughtful song, with a powerful message. I always loved the spirit of Christmas, and how it seems to help everyone become a little more giving and loving. My father’s family came from Holland, and so at Christmas time one of the things we do is celebrate the festivities around December 5th when Sinterklaas (Santa) comes. Then the rest of the month is focused on the Savior. The gifts given are homemade gifts or gifts from the heart to each other and we we spend all of December filling a jar with “gifts for the Savior” when we see a family member doing a service or kind deed for another we put a bean in the jar. Celebrating the Christmas season in this way allows the kids to take part in the fun of Santa, but then spending the rest of the time pondering the true meaning of Christmas.
I would love to have the sheet music if at all possible so that I can sing this with my family at Christmas time to help remind us of the need to make room for the Savior in our lives.
