this is a really beautiful song and i love it a lot and i could listen to it over and over again.
Best Christmas Memories is always being able to have family home. No matter if there are gifts or not that’s not what Christmas is about. It’s knowing Christ was the GREATEST GIFT ever given to
us and if we accept HIS GIFT of SALVATION we can as a family always live together forever.
Amanda,
Couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks for sharing.
One of my favorite christmas memories: My father served in world war II, and though he never left state side, it still had an adverse effect on him. I remember as a child growing up, my dad having nightmares about the war. He didn’t talk about it much because it weighed so heavely on him. My older sister had come across some things that belonged to my dad. His suitcase, part of his uniform, and a small journal that he kept, along with a few other things. My sister (being the person that she is looked at the glass half full) she was so grateful that my father survived that period of his life, that she considered it a wonderful blessing. So she wrapped the suitcase and the belongings, and put them under the christmas tree. She had my dad open it last. When he opened it, he was speachless, and the tears and disappointment showed. He asked “where did you get this?” My sister knew that she got a reaction that she was not expecting, and now crying herself, along with my mother, my sister had to explain herself. She ment it to be a possitive thing, instead, it ruined Christmas. It wasn’t days later, that dad threw all that he could find, into the back of his truck to take to the city dump. I came home from school, and asked him what he was doing. When I saw the suitcase and stuff, when he left the garage, I quickly gathered what I felt that I could before he came back in and caught me. I ran to my room with only a few treasures.
My favorite memories of Christmases past is gathering together with family and reading again the story of my Saviors birth.
I would like a copy of the sheet music
Dear Shawna Belt Edwards,
I am a 17 year old girl from a little town in Germany:) me and my band are going to play songs in the christmaschurch. last year we performed the song “Breath of heaven” by Amy Grant and we got so many positiv feedback, so that we decided to play a more beautiful song…and i found yours! “Do you have room” is such a wonderful song, that i loved from the first moment (especially the piano, because i also play the piano and i really love it
) you are a great writer and i am so happy that i found this song and i would be happier if I/we would get the notes for free. naturally, my band and I wouldn`t give the notes away.
We would be verry happy to make people with playing this song happy and we are also playing because God gave everyone of us a special talent and we want to use this to celebrate and worship God and to make people happy!
I am looking forward getting news of you
be blessed and go on with your wonderful hearttouching writing
Love, Mareike
Our family does several family traditions keeping Jesus in our Christmas. Every year I look for
a few fresh ideas to add to keep it alive for us and our kids as they grow. We have family devotions
dedicated to the Christmas story in the month of December we sing and play piano together.
We have a Jesus Birthday cake with special candles that are red to represent the blood he
shed for us. We also volunteer our time and money to certain charities that share the love
of Jesus. your song is so beautiful I want piano music to play it for friends and family.
Thank you
I would love to share this song with my congregation…very small church and I know they would just be so moved by the words alone. Thanks!
beautiful song – beautiful words – beautiful message. Thank you.
I have several favorite memories of Christmas – one special one was when I served a mission to Italy. One of our district elders arranged with a music store to put a piano outside, and our district sang on the piazza for a couple hours. A vendor was roasting chestnuts on top of a big barrel not too far away. The evening air was crisp and cool. Shoppers were hurrying here and there – yet the music had time to penetrate their hearts and put a smile on their faces.
My absolute favorite Christmas memory is being with my family and cousins on my mom’s side. Music is always the ‘big’ event. Once many of the cousins were teenagers, it was more difficult to do planned performances from each family. But there HAD to be music! One Christmas Eve, after enacting Luke 2, everyone grabbed any kind of instrument they could find; guitar, spoons, toy drum, a wooden stick used on a pot lid, an almost empty oatmeal container – and we had the greatest improv Christmas music session ever! We had so much fun using our voices (many are quite talented) and other musical talents to simply create while singing Christmas praises to our Savior. I’ve rarely felt such a strong extended family bond or felt so poignantly the Savior as the center of Christmas worship. That night, there was room.
Summer, I loved reading this. Love you, cousin!
Will you have sheet music for your other works available soon?
Summer,
Thanks for asking — and yes, I’m working on it. halfway through an arrangement of “Because.” And then I have a list after that! Check back with me.
My favorite Christmas memories are on Christmas Eve. Our entire family from both my mom and dad’s side would all get together early that day. We (the children) would make ornaments, and other crafts and decorate cookies throughout the day while the adults would begin preparing the meal for Christmas dinner. Then that night we would have a “snack” type dinner. After dinner we would all gather around in my Grandma and Grandpa’s living room and sing Christmas carols while either my aunt or I would play a mini organ. Often times we would also reflect upon the past year and tell “stories” of good and rough times or even tell “stories” on each other for fun. Finally before we all went back to our homes, the story of Jesus’ birth would be read from the Bible and we would all have prayer.
*I would appreciate a copy of the sheet music please! That would be wonderful! Thank you so much for this song and making it available. It’s beautiful!*
Dear Shawna, my favorite Christmas memories I have is when my two sons would get up at 4:00 in the morning and run to our bedroom to get their dad and I up to unwrap presents. I taught our boys that it was alright to get presents for Christmas but, it isn’t the reason we celebrate Christmas. Chirstmas is not the same around our house anymore. We lost my oldest son B, J in 2005, He had cystic fibrosis and he got very sick. All we have is my other son Justin, He has been married two years to a wonderful Christian youn lady. B. j is still with us at Christmas, we put a special ornament on the tree each year that says, you may miss me but, I’m spending Christmas this year with Jesus.
I love the song you sent me Do you have room for Jesus. I am going to use the song in my Chirstmas Drama at Church. I would like the words to the song, and how can I get the video?
Thank You, Kay Parker
Kay, thanks for your beautiful message, and my heart goes out to your family — loved ones are missed especially at Christmas time. I’ll send you an email with the words and a little more about the video.
I would like the words to the song Do youhave room for the savior.
I love this song. It is a beautiful.
thank you!
I really enjoyed your video on youtube “Do you have room” thanks.
God Bless you.
David
I work for the missionary sending agency of the Church of God (Anderson, IN). We send e-mails during the month of December to all of our missionaries with the words of Christmas Carols or songs. I loved this song and video and thought it special that it included photos of hurting people and people from all around the world that our missionaries minister to. I wanted to include the words and link of your video to our missionaries this season. We all need to make sure that we make room for Christ in our lives. Just Beautiful!
I’d like a copy of the sheet music solo. Thank you!
First of all we just love your song, Do you have room? We ordered it, and are planning to sing it for the Gospel Rescue Mission which we minister to once a month with a group from our church. We would love to obtain a copy of the song, whoever sings it on You Tube.
One of my most special but hard Christmas memories was just in 2007, my oldest sister, Rosie, had a stroke, and I flew back to Iowa to spend time with her…little did I know, it would only be 2 short weeks. She passed away December 13th, 2007. Those 2 weeks I had with her there in Hospice, were dear to me…that Christmas was very hard, I stayed in Iowa to spend with my Mom, as we had lost our Dad earlier that year in March. Loosing a parent and a sibling within 9 months was one of the hardest things we had to go thru. This song is very special, and I pray it will touch the men at the Gospel Rescue Mission we minister to each month. God Bless you and your talents God has given you. By His Grace, Gloria
Hi, I would LOVE a copy of the accompaniment for “Do You Have Room?”
I will make room by spending more time with God.
Every Christmas Eve, all of my sisters and I go around caroling to hospitals and neighbors with our violins.
I look forward to it every year. We also make gingerbread houses, and sing Christmas songs together around the Christmas tree together.
This is a beautiful song….I cant stop listening to it…. Christmas’ have always been special…my parents were great examples of serving & helping others especially around the holidays….this song helps to remind me of that & that there is so much more we can do ‘ to have room’…..Thanks for sharing this with all…I would love to have a copy of the sheet music……thanks so much
Last year I heard your song, “Do You Have Room” and decided I needed to have one of the young women in our ward sing it over the holidays. I was able to get a free copy on line and then last night I began searching for my copy and after a couple of hours, gave up. Would that still be available in the solo version? I want her to sing again this year.
thanks,
patty
Every Christmas Eve my whole family, there’s 34 of us, goes to my sisters house. We sit around eating, playing games, opening gifts, singing Christmas songs around the piano and having someome read the Christmas story. Christmas is my favorite time of year and love the closeness my family has. I am very fortunte to have a very close family. We are always there for each other. God has been good to us and has blessed us. My daughter wanted me to listen to your song “Do You Have Room” and I really liked it. It is a beautiful song. I would love to have a copy of the sheet music so I could include it in the children’s Christmas program at church. Thank you.
I would also like to know if there is a sound track and if so how could I get one. Thanks.
Merry Christmas everyone. I had just told a friend yesterday that I was having a hard time getting in the “Christmas Mood”. Each year I ask my children to perform at church as one of my Christmas gift, it’s my favorite gift!! As I was looking for a song I came across your song and my spirit was moved. Our lives are so busy but for us to really celebrate our Savior’s Birth we too need to make room for Christ in our hearts and to be so full of the Holy Spirit that we shine with the light of Christmas each and every day.
We would be blessed to have the sheet music for our Church at Christmas.
My favorite Christmas memory was my Mom and Dad always taking us caroling as a family. One year we swung by this single sister’s home as a last minute thought. Her lights were out. We knocked, just in case, but no one came to the door. We started to leave and my brother noticed a downstairs window with a sliver of a light peeking through. He ran and started banging on that window. The rest of us headed towards the car. Surprisingly, a moment later the door opened… she was there alone on Christmas Eve. We sang,” God Rest ye merry Gentlemen let nothing you dismay… remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day to Save us All from Satan’s power when we have gone astray. Oh Tidings of Comofort And Joy.” The spirit enveloped our little gathering, tears glistened in her eyes. She thanked us, it was just what she needed to hear and feel that she was not forgotten. The Lord was aware of her…and us.
Just before her house, some of our family had left other directions for Christmas Eve and I was feeling sadness at their departure and wishing we could all be together. Then through a gentle prompting to visit this sister….We found Him. The sadness erased and love left in its place. Make Room for Him this Christmas… and heed those quiet promptings you receive. You will find Him… the greatest gift of All. Thanks for this beautiful song.
In my family, on Christmas Eve, my family has a big dinner and then we read the story of Christ’s birth. It is a beautiful evening and I especially love having our whole family together for the occasion. It is a wonderful night and time for our family to focus on the true meaning of Christmas without the thought of gifts getting in the way.
Please send me the sheet music for the solo version. Thank you!
I was searching for something to use for special music at church during the Christmas/Advent time, and found your song. It is beautiful and I love it. I would like to sing it at one of our services. I would really like to get the SATB version, as I am part of a Praise Team at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Iowa. I love music that moves and inspires people, and that makes us feel. I love music that has a message and if I/we are able to touch people through music, I will sing as long as I can! Thanks for a beautiful song!

Would also like to know how to download this to my ipod!
Shawna, I had this all downloaded to my computer 2 years ago. I had it on my desktop after I e-mailed you. I still have the sheet music and I listen to it over and over. Only now we had to get a new computer and I lost it on the old one. So the only way I can listen now is through YouTube. I have used it at ward funcitons and am gong to use it again for our RS. party the 14th. Can I get another copy of the downlaod? so Glad I remembered your name so Icould find the e-mail with the new video link for 2010.
Thank you I love this song.
Christmas morning, the whole family spies on Santa as he brings presents to everyone. It is so much fun to see how excited the kids get to see Santa. That is definitely my favorite Christmas tradition.
I would like to receive the original recording of your song. My wife loves it and so I’d like to get it for her. Thank you.
Favorite Christmas memory is from our annual living nativity play. As we watched the story of Jesus’ birth a light snow began to fall. It was so Beautiful! Participating in the living nativity every year makes room for our savior, reminding us in vivid detail what we are truly celebrating. The birth of our savior!
I would like a copy of the sheet music with the lyrics. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, moving Christmas song. I have been blessed by the words and look forward to sharing it with our church.
I am interested in doing this at our christmas eve service. I will share with you a christmas memory of how we keep the saviour first in our hearts. I can’t stand the over comercialism of Christmas. We decorate simply. We go to church for our Christmas eve service and when we return ever since our kids(7 of them) were little (the oldest is 22 and recently married, the youngest is 5) we would come home and get into our pjs. We would open to Matthew and Luke and each kid(if they could read) would take turns reading about the story of mary, joseph and our prescious saviour’s entrance into this world. We then say a prayer and go to bed. We do not do santa and any gifts given or received are in honor of our Christ’s birth the greatest gift. Christmas morning we get up and exchnage gifts and sing happy birthday to Jesus. In our Edmondson tradition we eat choclate cake with peanut butter icing! Thank you for sharing your gift and this song, and thank you for allowing me to sharing with our church. Bless you & Merr CHRISTMAS! ~Maria
I forgot to specify! I would like the sheet music solo.
Thank you!
My favorite Christmas memories center around loving parents who are now gone. My mother made Christmas a magical time, full of gifts, love and music. She had an old phonograph that she would set up in the living room and filled our home with beautiful Christmas music. This year I think I’ve just begun to truely understand how to make room for the Savior. A neighbor of ours just moved to our community when his wife passed away. He is nearly the same age as my parents were. He is far away from family so we’ve sort of adopted him and he comes over for meals and to visit. He’ll be spending Christmas with us this year so it will be a wonderful way to pass on the love my parents gave to me. Your song, “Do You Have Room for Jesus” is beautiful. Would you give permission for it to be sung in a church service?
I love Christmas Eve when all my family comes together. We enjoy a fancy dinner together and then we read the story of Christ’s birth. I love being with my family and it is especially nice to focus on the true meaning of Christmas before the presents and gifts cloud everyone’s minds.
I would like the copy of the solo sheet music. Thank you!
Too often, this season becomes a time of over-stimulation — a flurry of activity that can distract us from the true meaning of why we celebrate. I’m grateful for this reminder to slow down and make space for this baby who came with a mission — to be our Savior! Hallelujah, what a Savior!
This is a beautiful song and caused me to ponder how I am making room for the Savior in my life. It has helped me to recommit to following HIs example and sharing more love with others, I would appreciate a copy of the sheet music. Thank You for this opportunity and for sharing your talent.
Every December, I turn my regular blog into a musical advent calendar. In the past I have posted a lot of videos of more secular Christmas music, along with religious Christmas music. This year I wanted the music to be more Christ-centered. I had this epiphany that one of the reasons everyone is so kind and charitable during the Christmas season is that we are constantly listening to Christmas music. How can you hear messages about Jesus Christ all day and not have those kind of feelings? Even most of the secular music is upbeat and happy. I’m so glad I found “Do You Have Room.” It’s just the kind of song I’m looking for. I hope it goes viral.
My favorite Christmas memory was when we would do the 12 days of Christmas and deliver a piece of a nativity each day and on the last day we would deliver the Christ baby and remind them of the true reason for the season. I just love Christmas time. I would love to share this song with the Young Women’s for the Christmas lesson.
Your song, ‘Do You Have Room?’, is beautiful…I uploaded it onto my blog, Rest With Him, and onto my Facebook page. I am making room for Jesus every day of my life by uploading a contemporary Christian music video onto Rest With Him, and in December, I choose a Christmas song each day. I am also Principal/Lead Teacher of Valley Christian Academy, and an ordained deacon in my church. I would love to teach your song to my students, so guitar chords, melody and lyrics would be very helpful. May God bless you abundantly each and every day of the year!
An inspiring, beautiful and anointed song for this very special season. Thank you.
Thank you, Shawna, for sharing your beautiful song with the world. I have listened to it four times and it still brings the tears. Years ago, my daughter worked in a care center where she met our friend, Louise Mae, who has cerebral palsy and had her legs severely burned as a child. She lives alone and rides a cart to get around. She has spent the holidays with our family for many years and brings with her a very special spirit, especially at Christmas time. She loves to sing and we can’t wait to share your song with her for Christmas. We would like to have the sheet music so my daughter can play and sing it to her. Thank you again, and gratitude to Heavenly Father for the gift which is yours.
P.S. I would like the music download, as well. Have a very happy Christmas with your family.
Hi! Michelle Lin. just told me about your music, and though I haven’t heard it yet (my youtube is blocked form this computer…) I would LOVe to get a copy to review and possibly sing next Sunday. If Michelle says it’s gorgeous, I cannot WAIT to sight read it! I’m doing a lot more reading of Christ this season, and we’ve chosen to emphasize this with our kids by making our advent a non chocolate one… scriptures and references and children’s books about the Saviors instead. They are loving it. It’s really bringing the Spirit into our home! Hope to hear from you very soon, and would absolutely love to share this as soon as I see it! xxo-HB (M&M’s friend from Segullah)
My favorite Christmas memory was wearing the costumes my mom had made for us and acting out the story of Christ’s birth as my mom read the scriptures. I would love to have the music download to listen to this season. Thanks
)
Hi Shawna,
I am making room for my Savior by dedicating my talents to him I write songs as well and I have dedicated my talent to writing songs for Him. I like your song because it is meaningful and melodic it tells the story and asks each person a question plus more> I love it thanks for writing this song
Hi Shawna! This is the first time I heard this song and I fell in love with it. I would like to sing it sometime in my church…I love Jesus with all my heart, and I want Him to always be the first one in my life. He is the only One who can completely fill every empty spot our hearts, and only if we let Him to do so. Lately, I’ve been noticing that I don’t spend much time with my Savior… I find time for everything else, but not the most important thing of all- building my relationship with Him. Thank you for the song. Again, it made me look down in my heart and rethink of my priorities. God has put abundant joy and piece in my heart! I love you Jesus!
“You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.” Psalm 4:7
Would love to have the sheet music. this is beautiful. My favorite memory is of my family traveling to my grandmothers house to meet up with the rest of our scattered family. We never missed a Christmas since this was usually the only time our whole family would get together. The joy of being together brings a smile to my face to this day!
I would like to get the music download. I am in our ward’s R.S. Presidency. Tomorrow I am giving a lesson on having Christ the center of Christmas. I will also be doing that same theme for our R.S. Christmas Social. I would love to use your song during part of my presentation then at the social. My wish is that with my lesson tomorrow and the enrichment night, that families in our ward will focus on Christ this season and hopefully the years to come. Thank you for such a wonderful song! I love it!
What a beautiful song, my RS President shared it with me. I so would love a copy of the sheet music so that I could sing and play it for my husband’s family Christmas talent show. I am trying to make more room for Jesus this year. Our family took on the challenge to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover (started in September) in our personal scripture study. We will finish next week. I have asked Heavenly Father to bless me and my children with a testimony of my/their own. Thank you for sharing your talent with others.
I love this piece of music “Do You Have Room” and would love to share the words with my Young Women in my next lesson. Thank you for sharing your talents. Joy
I love this song! We have an advent calendar, and each day/pocket contains a Christ centered activity such as visiting an elderly friend, reading a Christmas story from one of the Prophets, writing letters to a missionary, shopping for goodies for a missionary Christmas package, etc.
I would love a copy of the sheet music. Thank you so much for sharing your love for the Savior through this tender message and song.
Two of my most favorite Christmas’s happened while I was serving a mission. It was really only then that I realized how to truly celebrate Christmas. I loved being able to focus solely on the Savior and not worry about what gifts I was going to receive or give. I was able to serve so much during those Christmas’s and this Christmas I want to make room for the Savior by doing some act of service everyday of the month for December.
I would love to receive the original recording to listen to and remind me to make sure I am making room for the Savior. Thank you for this beautiful, inspiring song.
I believe that making room, is just that, closing the door to other worthy (sometimes) or unworthy pursuits that are less important than leting HIM in. SO I try and judge everything by its eternal perspective. I don’t always succeed, and sometimes I fail miserably, but I keep trying, I am willing and I offer that at His feet.
My favorite Christmas memories involve my sweet children. Christmas doesn’t ever feel complete without the wonder and awe that they bring to the celebrations. Sharing my love of the Savior with them, reading Christmas stories, looking at Christmas lights, none of it is as much fun without them!
I would love to have a copy of the solo sheet music. Thank you again!
Thank you for your beautiful music and for being willing to share with all of us! I am speaking at a Progressive Dinner in a few weeks and my topic is on Making Room for Him.
Merry Christmas!
This is a very inspiring and touching song. I love the song itself and the lyrics. Thank you for sharing.
Can I have a copy of the lyrics of this song? Thanks
Hi Gretel,
Your email doesn’t seem to be correct. You can email me at shawnabeltedwards@gmail.com and I will send you the lyrics. Merry Christmas
I really love this song…I remember receiving for Christmas a card with the picture of Joseph knocking on a door with Mary sitting on the donkey waiting patiently. Under the picture it said “Each of us is an innkeeper who decides whether or not there is room for Jesus”. – Neal a. Maxwell. this simple statement has changed my life. I would love a copy of the solo sheet music.
Years ago when the grandkids were young we started a tradition of having a Birthday Cake for Jesus as part of our Family get together. It seemed to help the children take time to remember exactly why we were celebrating.
This year, sitting in Primary with the youngest grandchild, it was pleasant to hear my son-in-law, a councilor in the Bishopric mention this tradition to the Primary Children.
Sorry I forgot to specify that I was requesting for a copy of the music sheet..I’m thinking of singing this song, which I believe is a beautiful and meaningful Christmas song, in the church’s Christmas service.
Thank you!
I love this song! I’ve heard it sung (beautifully) several times in just the last two weeks and I so appreciate the message of this song and what Christmas is really all about. I’m trying to make more room for Him by using the gifts He has given me to lift others, especially singing songs about the Savior, instead of just the traditional secular Christmas music that we so often hear. I would love a recording of this song as well as the sheet music. That would be a wonderful Christmas gift for me to share with my friends and family! Thank you so much for sharing your talents!
Sorry, I forgot to specify that I would like a copy of the sheet music for this song. I think I could use this not only for Christmas but for any time of the year!
I do believe that this year is my favorite Christmas memory. My family has been experiencing difficulties, financially & emotionally, that left us with almost no Christmas gifts. Yet within our hearts the anticipation of celebrating the miraculous birth of our Savior stirred us to joy and excitement! What a surprise it was to wake up Christmas morning to piles of gifts on our porch! My boys were thrilled with each gift they unwrapped! Yet the most touching moment was worshiping our Lord on His birthday in a church filled with friends & family, singing praises to the One who redeems & saves & provides & comforts!
I recently heard your beautiful song, Do You Have Room and immediately searched iTunes for it. Would LOVE to have a copy of the song & the sheet music, but if I must choose, then I would pick the song so I can listen to it repeatedly each Christmas!
My favourite Christmas memory is definitely going caroling every Christmas eve and Christmas night with all the youth from our church. We are gone the entire night singing at families’ of our church’s homes, spending time together and bonding through Jesus.
Can I please get a copy of the sheet music and of the accompaniment tracks? Thank you so much and be blessed!!
After listening to the First Presidency Christmas devotional I was reminded…once again…to slow down, to destress and be ever thankful for ALL that I receive everyday, not just at Christmas. That which is most precious to me cannot be bought nor does it have any monetary value. I heard Do You Have Room last year and played it over and over. I couldn’t hear it enough or cry enough tears. Thanks you for sharing your thoughts of the Savior . I would so appreciate the sheet music so my daughter could accompany me to sing for our family Christmas gathering. Thank you again!!
My favorite Christmas memory is spending time with my family, making cherished memories and focusing our Christmas on the Savior. When I was a little girl, my mom would always read touching Christmas stories leading up to Christmas. These stories always help me feel the Spirit.
I would love a downloadable link to the beautiful video you made of having room for the Savior. I can view it on You-tube but would like to be able to download it to my computer, if possible. Thank you so Much!
Oh, I’m in love with this song. So beautiful. Will love the music sheet so I can learn it and sing it at my church this Christmas!! Thank you for such an amazing song. Happy Holidays!
I heard this music yesterday at the church. And the words touched my heart deeply…
“Have you a place for the One who lived and died for you?”
I think this song can be sung any time…. Not only Christmas time… but any time….
This is a very beautiful song that reminds me about God’s glory and power. I wanted to master this song and sing it over and over again.
