The Lord Provides

Posted by on Dec 20, 2011 | 8 comments

I love this favorite Christmas memory from Lara:

My favorite memory, was the day the Lord provided….He continues all the time to surprise us. But this happened at Christmas.

1 week before Christmas my family was gathered in the living room and we were reading through our Advent devotions, reading about how God is our Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Provides) and I was watching my kids (4) as we read, praying that they would understand that this Christmas would not be full of worldly gifts because we couldn’t even afford 1 for them.

As we were reading, singing and praying, our dog started to bark as if someone was at the door, but the doorbell didn’t ring. We went to the door to see why she was barking and when my husband opened the door, he saw 4 gigantic boxes on our porch filled with food and presents for our children. THE LORD PROVIDES.  My favorite gift inside was a beautiful glass ornament with a lovely letter. We still have that ornament to remind us every year of God’s unending faithfulness and love for us.

I would love a copy of your beautiful  sound recording, so that I can play it for my family this year and every year to come.

How has the Lord provided for you?

Shawna

As a young mother, I was shopping for some Christmas gifts at a local thrift store. A kind man saw me there with my 3 small children. He approached me, handed me a small envelope and wished me “Merry Christmas”. I was a little confused at the time. My children asked me what he gave me, so I opened the envelope to find a $100 bill. I looked up to thank him again, but he was no where in sight. I was so grateful to that man for his willingness to share with our family to make our Christmas better, but also for the lesson he taught to me and to my young children of the true spirit of Christmas.

My favorite Christmas Meemory was the year that we didn’t have much money, my Mom and Dad were separated, we were living with my Mamaw. That year instead of putting up a Christmas Tree, we have a Cross, with the manger underneath it. It helped us all keep the real meaning of Christmas in perspective. That year we also only got 3 gifts, just like Jesus did on the first Christmas from the wisemen! I distinctly remember that Christmas out of all others.

I love Jesus with all my heart, and I want Him to always be the first one in my life. He is the only One who can completely fill every empty spot our hearts, and only if we let Him to do so. Lately, I’ve been noticing that I don’t spend much time with my Savior… I find time for everything else, but not the most important thing of all- building my relationship with Him. Thank you for the song. Again, it made me look down in my heart and rethink of my priorities. God has put abundant joy and piece in my heart! I love you Jesus!

“You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.” Psalm 4:7

The past 2 years have been very trying for me and my family. In that time I promised God that if He would help me through my tests with strength nad mercy I would use the gift He gave me and sing at church. My entire family now attends church and many extended family members now come on occasions when I will be singing. Some people have the ability to talk to God through praying out loud, singing is the only way I am able to “pray” out loud comfortably. I happened upon your song by mistake, and it took my breathe away. I would be more than delighted if given your blessing to learn this song and sing it for my church at Christmas. You have been given a great talent, and I will be looking forward to hearing more of your songs. Never give up. God Bless

Your song has touched me so deeply this year. Due to divorce 9 years ago the joy of Christmas has eluded me for too many years now. Don’t get me wrong I have tried to go through the motions of having a nice Christmas for the sake of my kids but it hasn’t been in my heart. Our ward choir is singing this song as part of our Christmas sacrament meeting on Sunday. So for me this song has reminded me what is most important about Christmas. I am trying to make more room in my life for what really matters. The birth, life and death of our Savior Jesus Christ . Thank you for your song thank you for touching my life the way you have with your song.

Hi Shawna! I am so thankful I stumbled upon your beautiful song today of all days. A great part of our country (the Philippines) has just been devastated by a storm and thousands of people, young and old, have perished. Homes were washed away by mud and flood waters leaving hundreds of families homeless. As they try to pick up what is left of their lives, I pray that the message of your song rings true. May all find room for Christ and all those who need us. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Shawna! Thank you for the gift of song!

    Dear Shawna,
As I listened to your most beautiful song entitle “The Miracle” I couldn’t help but cry. I find music so enriching and I love listening to it. Recently my husband and i started our Service Mission in our stake as Group Leaders for the Addiction Recovery program. We strive to help those with addictions learn that the only way they can ever overcome is through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Your song is so beautiful and the children’s voices are incredible. What a talented woman you are I just feel so uplifted when I listen to your song. Thank you so much for that and for sharing your incredible talents.

I would love to have the sheet music please. Keep on creating and uplifting our hearts.
