Christmas Can Be Lost

Posted by on Dec 7, 2011 | 21 comments

I was busy preparing a blog post for today about ways to honor the true meaning of Christmas – and I read this comment from Rick. I couldn’t say it better:

It is so easy to get caught up in the activities of the month that Christmas can be lost.

So what will I do to make room?

I will slow down. I will pray. I will reflect and ask others to do the same. I will reconnect with those I take for granted, those I don’t speak to often enough. I will talk about how blessed I am and I will prepare for His coming. Not with lights and presents, but with prayer and meditation. I will sing songs of praise and teach them to my kids.

My girls will sing your song at Christmas Eve, and we will all remember why we celebrate. Thank you for this story that shook me back into the reality of the Holy Season.

Thank you, Rick. I’ll be thinking about your message as I try to do the same things myself.

I teach the 16-17 yr olds in Sunday school, and I have been trying to impress on them the importance of truly being a diseciple of Christ takes action. WE are not just a go to church on sunday kind of people. So we are making room for the Savior by being his hands to help a needy family of a single mom and five children. Taking them food and Christmas gifts. As we read with them the story of our Saviors birth, WE hope they will see him through us. Hopefully they

We have a son serving in the Colombia Bogota South Mission. He has been out for 10 months on Friday. Throughout the Thanksgiving Season he shared in his letters so many of the things he was truly grateful for this year. So many things that we take for granted…a home not shed, food, beds without bugs, just to list a few. It has truly changed my perspective on Christmas this year. I am trying to put together the Sacrament Meeting Program for Christmas Day and came across your site. This song touched my heart and as I think about my son seeking those who are making or want to make room for Our Savior, I caught myself wondering if I am making room or am I caught up in the glitz and excitement of the season. Thank you so much for sharing your talent as well as testimonty in this song. I think I will be singing it in my heart daily as a reminder. I would love to have the sheet music. Thanks again and Merry Christmas. Aleta

I don’t simply have just one favorite Christmas memory. Each Christmas, my family gathers together to do the typical dinner and gifts. However, each Christmas, my favorite gift is not anything that I receive in a box with a bow…it is simply getting to spend a few days with my entire family. Everyone is in such a good mood. The stresses that we face day to day seem to disappear and we get to focus on what is truly important. Those are my favorite memories of Christmas.

Interested in sharing your words in my sacrament meeting. Beautiful illustrations come to mind as the words are expressed through song–I hope I can always make room for Him in my life, and in my heart where my most sincere and honest feelings are cherished and felt.

The quote by Elder Maxwell has long since been one of my favorite Christmas quotes and serves as a reminder to me not only to make room, but make my Savior the focus of my Christmas celebration. I am in charge of my Ward Christmas Party this year, and I have been searching for touching presentations that can help each member leave not just full and happy, but uplifted and strengthened. I hope that it is ok if we add this to our program. Our ward has been busy making blankets, collecting food and toys for the homeless shelter. We are seeking to not just have ward member attend the party, but join us in an experience than can strengthen their testimonies and prompt them to have the Savior the focus of their giving this year.
Thank you for sharing your talents to make our lives a little brighter this holiday. Truly beautiful! I would love a copy of the sheet music and the original music download. May your family enjoy a beautiful Christmas and the blessings you can handle, Sister Wilde

I was struggling to come up with an activity for the Primary girls last night as I was trying to study for finals, finish writing papers and take care of my family. I wanted something meaningful that would reflect the true meaning of Christmas and was quickly running out of time. I came across you beautiful video and knew it was perfect and it was just what I had been praying for. The girls came in to the activity all chatty and hyper, but as the video played and the beautiful lyrics of the song filled the room, the Spirit was so strong. Two of the little girls had tears streaming down their faces. It was the perfect way to discuss how to have a Christ centered holiday. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us.
I would love to have a copy of the recording, it will get me through the next couple weeks of finals.
    Merry Christmas

Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice. Amid the hustle and busyness of the Christmas season, I have tried to consciously think of Christ each day. Sometimes I am taken aback when I realize how long I’ve gone without thinking of Him, during this, His season. It is so easy to get caught up and forget what we’re celebrating. I would love to have the sheet music.

Isn’t it sad that we have to make room for HIM? He should fill the whole room! Yet we let the world and it’s cares and culture creep in and take up way too much room. So when I decorate for Christmas I primarily just use nativity scenes. I have one or more in every room. He is the reason for the season!

And what a beautiful song. It is a gift to all who hear it! Thank you!

In the hussle and bussle of this time of year I am taking time to make room for Jesus in my heart by reading my Bible and spending quiet devotion time with God.

This is such an amazing song! I believe it sends the messsage that people truly need to hear! I was looking for a song to sing at Chapel at my school to elementary students! I play the piano and this song is awesome! This song is absolutely beautiful!! It is truly a beautiful reminder that we all need to make room for Our Saviour each and every day!!

Last year for my Advent project I posted on facebook a different picture of a Manger from all around our Ohio Valley area. Christmas I posted a youtube video (My Mangers) (youtube name Shutterbug 53) of all the pictures with Becky Kelley’s song “Where’s the line to see Jesus?” (Sheet music please)

My ten-year-old great nephew approached our pastor a few weeks ago after church and asked him if he could be baptized. (He was saved in vacation Bible school last year.) The pastor said, “of COURSE you can! When would you like to do that?” He looked up at the pastor with precious little innocent eyes and said “How about JESUS’ BIRTHDAY!?”

What better way to celebrate the Savior’s birth than to celebrate this child’s rebirth … his birth into the Kingdom … Happy Birthday, Jesus! May we all make room for YOU not only at Christmas, but every moment of our lives. Hallelujah!

    sheet music, please

My husband and I serve as Interims with Village Missions….my favorite memory of Christmas…a very special Christmas Eve Candlelight service a couple years ago in a very rural church that no longer holds regular Sunday service. We used scripture interspersed with Christmas songs to honor and worship the ‘Babe’ in the Manger, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Please send sheet music and thank you for the wonderful song! May our Lord and Savior bless you as you continue to share the Good News thru your music!

I am an 84 year old woman who is very interested in music. I was a proffesssional violinist years ago and played in some excellent symphonies. I absolutely loved your song and would love to be able to listen to it whenever I wanted.

My favorite Christmas memory is when two of my children and their whole families decided to spend Christmas at my daughter Sue’s house. Of course my husband and I were there too. We do get together at Sue’s every other Christmas, all 20 of us!! Susan Noyes Anderson is a very gifted writer. She has written many poems and books that have been published. She has a website SusanNoyesAndersonpoems.com where she has made available hundreds of poems in every catagory from religious to humorous. It is a great place to find just that special poem that you need to give a talk, or teach a class.

Every Christmas Sue writes a new Christmas Story that she reads to us. Then we have what she has calls “Circle Time” where she asks a significant question usually relating to something in the story, or how each of us would handle a certain situation. Our answers are always very personal, and often tears are shed. These answers seem to draw our family closer together. We are all seated in a circle, hence the name. We are all LDS and our circle time opens and closes with a prayer and we sing songs. Altogether, it is the most spiritual wonderful experience of the whole year and we all look forward to it.

Thank you so much for making this beautiful song available to us. You remind me of my daughter in that you are so willing to share your talent with others.

  19. Becky

Thank you for writing and sharing this beautiful song about having room for him. We have started a tradition of going to Savior of the World and then singing Come Lord Jesus at home as a family nearly once a day as we look forward to his coming. I would love the download music and sheet music.

I’ve been a 5th grade teacher for a little while now, and I think each year brings a new favorite Christmas. I don’t have kids of my own, but each class I get becomes my adopted kids. It’s wonderful to see the magic that appears in the eyes of a child around this time. I had a special Christmas with my class last year. We secretly did the 12 Days of Christmas for a class, and also responded to some Christmas letters they wrote to Santa. The joy, the excitement, the light in their eyes, the love of others that grew in their hearts as we did these small acts of service was very humbling and special to me. As I think of Christmas, I think of my kids. :)

Thank you for your beautiful music!
And thank you for your offer – I’d like a copy of the sheet music, please.

  21. Michelle

I would love a copy of the sheet music.
My favorite Christmas memories are role=playing the nativity story, reading a Christmas story and scripture to go along with each story every evening of December. Our family would light a candle while we sat around the table reading. By the end of the month, the candle would be almost gone.
